Does your child know what a ‘wreath’ is? Many times we assume our children know vocabulary words, but they may not. I found that most of my first graders did not know what a wreath was, so I had to fix that!
We made these handprint wreathes every year in first grade to decorate our walls. Here are the directions.
1. Cut the middle circle out of a paper plate. (You won’t use the middle circle, but you will use the outside ring as the base for your wreath.)
2. Trace your child’s hand onto paper- whatever you have around the house- paper sacks, old Christmas cards, or magazine pages would even work! You will need about 6-10 handprints to fill up the wreath.
3. Glue the hands onto the paper plate ring, overlapping the hands a little as you go.
4. Add red berries (red paper/felt circles or buttons) and a pretty ribbon (paper or real ribbon) to complete your wreath!

Another poem for your "Velcro Glove" from Morgan!
5 Little Christmas Trees
Finger Poem
5 little Christmas Trees
Standing all alone
Their hearts were very sad
'cause they hadn't found a home.
Then chop went the ax
And down fell a tree
And off it went with a happy family!
4 little Christmas Trees
Standing all alone
Their hears were very sad
‘cause they hadn’t found a home.
Then chop went the ax
And down fell a tree
And off it went with a happy family!

No little Christmas Trees
Standing all alone
Their hearts were very happy
'cause they all found a home!!!
